Deceased Name: Sam London Sam London, 86, formerly of North 19th Avenue East, died
Friday, Feb. 14, 1997, in the Benedictine Health Center. He was a lifelong Duluth resident, and graduated from
Central High School. He attended college and graduated from the University of
Minnesota-Twin Cities. He was a pharmacist, and worked for several firms,
including Snyder's and Walgreen's in Duluth. He was also a druggist in West
Duluth and Grand Rapids. He was an Army veteran of WWII, and served as a
pharmacist in military hospitals in France, Belgium and the Battle of the
Bulge. He was a member of Adas Israel Congregation, American
Legion-David Wisted Zenith City, Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge,
Minnesota Pharmacists Association and the University of Minnesota Alumni
Association. He was an outstanding athlete, especially in baseball and
basketball. He was also an avid sports fan. His parents were Joseph and Fanny Weiner London. He was
preceded in death by a brother, Conrad London; and a sister, Margaret Berman
Glazman. He is survived by three nephews, Al (Sally) Berman of
Ontonagan, Mich., Anthony (Phyllis) Berman of Rochester, Minn., and Bruce
(Erma) London of Nisswa, Minn.; a niece, Sue London of Minneapolis; four
grandnieces; and two grandnephews. Services: Today at 2 p.m. in Johnson Mortuary Chapel.
Burial will be in Shaara Tzedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may
